Job summary

Clear Career Professionals seeks a Director of Development Services in Denison, Texas. Reporting to the City Manager's Office, this role leads planning, land use, growth management, and development, guiding regulations and long-range planning to protect historic downtown.

You will build consensus among boards, coordinate with city departments and regional partners, manage budgets, and advise on development projects that balance growth with Denison's heritage.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Public Administration, Business, Management, Architecture, Urban Planning, or a closely related field.
• Seven (7) years of progressively responsible experience in public-sector planning or development, including five (5) years of supervisory experience.
• Demonstrated experience in planning, zoning, land use, permitting, development review, and organizational leadership.

Responsibilities

• Lead the Development Services Department, directing operations, staff, and programs across divisions.
• Guide land use through Comprehensive Plan, Zoning/Subdivision Ordinances, building codes, and regulations; lead long-range planning.
• Steward development by reviewing zoning, plats, site plans, variances, and presenting recommendations to boards and Council.
• Build relationships as liaison to developers, property owners, agencies, and regional partners.
• Manage resources by developing goals, performance measures, and the budget; advise City Manager.
