Job Description

The Director of Design Services will play a pivotal role at Mizzou Online in shaping the vision, strategy, and execution of online instructional and media design services for the University of Missouri. This role involves providing design, development, and evaluation services to colleges, departments and faculty, ensuring compliance with accessibility standards, and promoting effective online course and program design strategies. This position will lead a team of instructional and experience designers, as well as work directly with complementary education support services, including Academic Technology, Program Coordination, Office of Accessibility, Office of Student Affairs and more.

The Director of Design Services will also be required to attend the annual on-site Mizzou Online All Staff Retreat, Director Retreats, and other on-site events or meetings as business needs dictate. Travel for this position is expected to be minimal.

Key Responsibilities

1. Provide strong leadership and vision to the instructional and experience design team
2. Direct workflows to achieve departmental goals
3. Lead and participate in university-wide committees and task forces
4. Execute online education priorities including program support, course design, quality review, and faculty development
5. Lead continuous improvement efforts

10. Create an annual budget and set team goals
11. Perform other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience plus at least 6 years of relevant experience.

• Experience leading instructional design teams in higher education
• Remote work experience

Salary Range

$90,000 - $105,000 per year
