Job summary

Space Kinetic is building a radically new architecture for space operations. The Director of Engineering: Deployables will own the full lifecycle of ruggedized deployable micro-satellites for the Whirlwind platform, guiding design from cradle to flight.

You’ll work across systems, structures, avionics, and manufacturing to ensure robust, producible hardware. The ideal candidate has 8+ years in aerospace/mechanical systems, expertise in CAD, GD&T, and a drive to push boundaries in a fast-paced

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering or related field.
• Experience designing precision mechanical assemblies and taking hardware from concept through qualification.
• Strong understanding of GD&T, tolerance stack-up analysis and DFM.
• Excellent communication and technical leadership skills.
• Ability to obtain security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership for deployable micro-satellites from concept to flight.
• Lead design reviews and guide multidisciplinary teams.
• Mentor engineers and set technical direction for deployables.
• Perform mechanical design and analysis, including structural/thermal considerations.
• Coordinate integration, testing, and production transition.
