General Definition of Work
The Director of Data Warehousing, under minimal supervision, performs senior level work with considerable decision-making discretion supporting the design, development, and implementation of on premise and cloud-based data, architectural structures, data analytics, and Business Intelligence (BI) platforms. This position is responsible for requirement gathering, analysis, and ETL development for integrating external data sources to support district initiatives aligned with system-wide strategic goals. Employee performs advanced work to carry out Board of Education policies and procedures under the direction of the Assistant Technology Officer of Data Warehouses.

Place of Work
The normal place of work is on the premises used by Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools. Charlotte- Mecklenburg Schools reserves the right to require you to work at such other place(s) as it may reasonably require from time to time.
Essential Functions
- Adhere to all state, federal, and local laws, policies, and procedures
- Evaluate and support existing BI and data warehousing systems and assist in the development and implementation of future migrations to cloud-based databases and BI solutions
- Perform complex data analysis, data architecture, and data reporting tasks
- Determine database and reporting requirements by analyzing business operations, applications, and programming; review business objectives and evaluate current systems
- Collaborate to develop architectural guidance, technical recommendations, and implementation strategies that support the development of data and information products and analytics systems using programming languages and tools
- Collaborate to develop and establish standards for data quality, data modeling, database object creation and maintenance, and data reporting, distribution, and presentation
- Develop and implement data structures for data warehouses and data mart projects; and support current and future data analytics and business intelligence systems
- Support efforts in data management, data quality techniques, data governance, master data management, and design methods
- Support the development of new, or improvement of, existing data warehouse ecosystems and data related reporting systems
- Manage data warehouse, data models, and source code
- Design, develop, and implement dataflows and ETL/ELT solutions to consume data from various internal and external sources
- Provide support in accessing and querying data via the data warehouse and analyzing and reporting on data to support customer requests or project requirements
- Complete local, state, or federal surveys and reports accurately and promptly
- Participate in professional development workshops and leadership training
- Create an inclusive environment with positive communication/public relations
- Perform related work as assigned or required
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
- Thorough knowledge and understanding of the principles, practices, and procedures of public school system technology requirements
- Knowledge of quantitative research methodology, statistics, data analysis, and business intelligence reporting
- Knowledge of business intelligence and data warehousing theory and concepts
- Skilled in data analytics, data governance, and communicating about data to non-technical audiences
- Skilled in software used in querying, analyzing, and reporting on enterprise data (SQL proficiency required)
- Skilled in business intelligence tools, from connecting to source data through deploying reports (Power BI proficiency required)
- Skilled in working with large data sets from a variety of data systems
- Ability to construct database management systems (DBMS) Specific Models or Physical Data Models working with the development team and database administrators (DBAs)
- Ability to build the validated, agreed to, and approved data structures
- Ability to maintain professional and emotional control under stress
- Ability to reflect appropriate response to situations, while maintaining a professional and personal demeanor
- Ability to learn and use specialized tools, equipment or software related to business needs
- Ability to implement local, state, and federal rules, guidelines, and procedures into daily business operations
- Ability to communicate effectively
- Ability to reason, make judgments, and maintain effective working relationships

Education And Experience
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or related area required
- Minimum of five (5) years' related experience required
- Equivalent combination of experience and education
Special Requirements
- Possess and maintain a valid driver's license or ability to provide own transportation
- Travel to school district buildings and professional meetings
