Job summary

Langara College in Vancouver, BC seeks a Director, Cyber Security to provide strategic leadership, governance, and enterprise oversight of information security strategies, policies, and risk management across the institution.

The role collaborates with the CIO and Senior Leadership, leads incident response, governance, budgeting, and cross‑functional teams, and advances a campus culture of security awareness while ensuring regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree plus minimum ten years of technology experience, including at least five years in cybersecurity.
• Experience leading security governance and enterprise risk management.
• Strong leadership, communication, and executive stakeholder management skills.
• Professional credentials such as CISSP, CISM preferred.

Responsibilities

• Directs development and implementation of enterprise information cyber security policies, strategies, and architecture in alignment with college strategy and compliance.
• Leads enterprise cyber risk management and governance, including risk registers and risk reporting to executive leadership and Board where required.
• Oversees incident management, investigation, and recovery; ensures documentation and post-incident analysis.
• Manages budgeting for cyber portfolio; oversees staff development and cross-functional IT security delivery.
• Collaborates with Legal, Risk Management, and external agencies as needed; ensures security posture meets regulatory standards.
