The Director of Curriculum and Instruction will report to the Senior Director of Teaching and Learning of CHP Schools. The Director of Curriculum and Instruction will oversee every facet of CHP Schools’ operation that directly impacts student learning. This will include monitoring of classroom instruction, management of all internal and external assessment data, and curriculum development for all subject areas. The Director of Curriculum and Instruction will be responsible for direct oversight of the instructional staff.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESThe following is an explanation of the duties of the Director of Curriculum and Instruction. It includes the major highlights of the requirements of the position. There should be a clear understanding that the duties outlined below are not all encompassing. Additional responsibilities may be assigned to the Director of Curriculum and Instruction as required by the Senior Director of Teaching and Learning and Board of Trustees.Performance Responsibilities – Instructional FocusPlan, supervise and coordinate an organized implementation of the CHP Professional development model.Direct, supervise and coordinate Instructional Leadership Apprentices.Collaborate with consultants, Leadership Teams and ILAs on the planning and implementation of professional development/workshops and Professional Learning Community (PLC) meetings.Collaborate with consultants in the certification and re-certification of instructional evaluators.Monitor of PLCs, Leadership Team meetings and professional developments/workshops.Assume a leadership role or serve as consultant to principals and other staff on matters pertaining to instruction and staff improvement.Conduct instructional walkthroughs.Monitor, coach, model and support classroom instructional analyses, pre conferences and post conferences in order to ensure inter-rater reliability within and among CHP school sites.Collaborate with Superintendent, administrators, consultants/ILAs in the creation of protocols, rubrics, procedures and instructional systems.Recommend staffing patterns, develop plans for instructional staffing and participate in the decision making process concerning standards for the selection of new professional staff members (teacher coaches, ILAs, career teachers, administrators).Supervise the use of data (findings from instructional walkthroughs, formative assessments, summative assessments, classroom instructional analysis, benchmarks, etc.) to guide instructional decisions.Attend professional development meetings, conferences, institutes, etc. to keep abreast of current trends and instructional practices.Maintain contact and consult with state, regional and local agencies that affect the instructional programs in CHP Schools.Make recommendations to the Chief Academic Officer of CHP Schools regarding instructional matters.Performance Responsibilities – Curriculum FocusProvide leadership in the development of curriculum. Supervise the ongoing review, maintenance and upgrading of curriculum in order to ensure rigor, relevance, alignment to state standards and adherence to required/mandatesAssume a leadership role or serve as consultant to principals and other staff on matters pertaining to curriculumMake recommendations to Chief Academic Officer of CHP Schools regarding curricular mattersCollaborate with vendors, publishers, ILAs, and consultants on the delivery of content specific professional development related to curriculum.Supervise the mapping of the curriculum to ensure a logical and aligned scope and sequence from kindergarten through grade 12.Supervise the alignment of formative assessments and benchmarks to curriculum and eligible contentSupervise the alignment of the curriculum to existing standardized assessments (e.g.: PSSA, SAT, Advanced Placement Tests etc.)Assist building-level teams in the analysis of data tied to the curriculum.Supervise and coordinate the development of extended day instructional programs and extended year instructional programs for students.Attend professional development meetings, conferences, institutes etc. to keep abreast of current trends in curriculum content.Maintain contact and consult with state, regional and local agencies that affect the curricular programs.PROFESSIONALISMInterpersonal/TeamworkMaintains positive and professional relationships with colleagues, children and parents.Contributes as a team member and actively collaborates with others to meet the mission and goals of CHP Charter Schools.Work HabitsKnowledgeable and supportive of CHP Charter SchoolSs policies and procedures, including those in the Employee Handbook and Policy and Procedure Manual, and implements them consistently.Knowledgeable of laws, regulations, and standards pertinent to his or her work and demonstrates compliance.Demonstrates integrity by striving for safe and effective service delivery, as well as accurate, timely and complete documentation.Contributes to maintaining a ‘Culture of Safety’ for students, parents, colleagues and visitors.Reports to work, as well as all meetings and appointments, in a timely manner.Dresses appropriately and professionally based on scheduled activities of the given day.
