Job summary

Lightpath is building the fiber infrastructure the digital economy depends on, leading a team to complete telecom construction projects on-time and within budget.

The Director of Construction will mentor managers, analyze performance data, and drive efficiency in urban and rural environments while ensuring customer satisfaction and adherence to company processes. This role operates in a hybrid work setting in Massachusetts with competitive compensation.

Qualifications

• Minimum HS graduate, some college preferred.
• Basic PC skills required: Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.
• Minimum (approx.) 15 years’ experience in OSP/ISP telecommunications construction with at least 3-5 years in a supervisory role.
• Experience managing managers is a plus.
• Demonstrated ability to read and interpret construction prints.
• Thorough knowledge of construction practices and procedures as well as knowledge of fiber optic materials and practices.
• Understanding of local municipal/utility licensing and permitting requirements a plus
• Experience with GIS systems a plus.
• Must have a valid driver’s license in the state of residence.
• Thorough knowledge of fiber and network design and be capable of field modifications to engineering work orders.

Responsibilities

• Assemble detailed and accurate cost estimates for upcoming construction projects.
• Administrate the project budget with on-budget performance visibility throughout the life cycle.
• Prepare detailed scopes of work and follow company processes for bids and vendor awards.
• Establish project timeline and oversee daily activities of vendor and/or internal resources to deliver on-time performance for customers.
• Ensure project visibility is sufficient through company systems and tools such as Oracle and Netcracker.
• Demonstrate superior customer service skills and professionalism at all meetings, surveys, inspections, etc.
• Support the ROW team in timely acquisition of municipal and utility licenses and permits.
• Ensure timely processing of project documentation: PO’s, Invoices, as-builts, etc.
• Secure necessary Certificates of Insurance from vendors.
• Provide regular updates on construction status to key stakeholders and Lightpath systems.
