Job summary

DuPage County is seeking a Director of Community Services to lead a broad portfolio of health and human services programs and to guide the formation of a new Department of Housing & Community Development.

You will head a professional team, build partnerships with government and community organizations, and drive large-scale initiatives during a period of organizational renewal. Strong leadership, strategic collaboration and budget oversight are essential to succeed.

Qualifications

• Master's degree required in public administration, business administration, or related field.
• Eight years of related experience with five years in a management level position.
• Pre-employment background check required.

Responsibilities

• Plans for and directs the operations of multiple programs to meet defined community needs.
• Acts as the County liaison with departments, elected officials, other counties, and state/federal agencies.
• Oversees grant programs and monitors policy compliance; develops contracts and performance metrics.
• Maintains knowledge of applicable statutes and regulations impacting services.
• Leads staff development, budgeting, and personnel decisions.
