Job summary

Churchill County is seeking a dynamic Community Activities Director to lead planning, development, and delivery of parks, recreation and aquatics programs, facilities and grounds, and the County cemetery. The role oversees staff, budgets, and community partnerships to enrich quality of life for residents and visitors.

The ideal candidate has a strong background in parks and recreation management, facility planning, strategic leadership, and team building.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in recreation management or a closely related field and five years of management-level experience in parks and recreation facility planning and development and/or recreation or leisure services program development and delivery.
OSHA 30 certification and Nevada Driver's License are required/preferred.
Knowledge of federal, state and local laws and regulations affecting parks, recreation and public spaces.

Responsibilities

Directs activities of parks, recreation and aquatics programs, facilities, cemetery and grounds.
Leads planning and delivery of community events and services for residents and visitors.
Oversees budget development, policy guidance and overall department performance.
Collaborates with elected officials, boards, and community groups to advance county goals.
Directs staff leadership, training and professional development.
