Job summary

BioTalent, a health tech innovator in San Francisco, is seeking a Director/Senior Director of Clinical Research to own the clinical research organization and the data backbone powering our hardware, sensing, and AI/ML teams.

You will lead a 10+ person team, manage studies from protocol to publication, interact with product and marketing, and represent the company in peer-reviewed work, press, and conferences.

Qualifications

• PhD in physiology, neuroscience, sleep science, or related field.
• 10+ years of human research experience, including at startups or hardware/health tech.
• 5+ years of people management experience.
• Experience with biosensing devices pursuing clinical validation.
• Strong publication record and IRB study experience.
• Advanced statistical fluency and power calculations.

Responsibilities

• Lead the clinical research organization and mentor a 10+ person team.
• Direct all human research studies across hardware, sensing, and AI/ML initiatives.
• Apply rigorous statistical criteria to evaluate performance before launch.
• Translate research into product features with cross-functional partners.
• Contribute to marketing and public communications with data-backed claims.
• Lead scientific communications and represent the company in media.
• Oversee hiring, compensation, and performance management.
• Drive new research collaborations and sleep science exploration.
• Own budget and vendor management for clinical studies.
