The Role
Under the direction of the Senior Director Clinical Applications, the Director organizes, controls and maintains the clinical information technology solutions used in the acute care setting by coordinating staff to meet budgets and deadlines. Resolves conflicting demands from users for service-related items. Establishes, reviews, and revises operating procedures as required. Works closely with internal and external management in problem-solving and recommending acute clinical systems solutions. Ensures implementation and maintenance of related projects meet objectives and are consistent with strategic information services plan. Project Management is an integral part of this position. Services include evaluation, development, and implementation of clinical information systems in alignment with the Information Services strategic direction.
Responsible for all aspects of the acute clinical information systems operations including service delivery, fiscal administration, allocation of human resources, staff development, continuous quality improvement, employee satisfaction, and accomplishing departmental goals and objectives. Provides development and administrative direction for information technology acute clinical systems. In addition, all relevant clinical sub- and peripheral clinical systems are under the direction of this position. The Director of Clinical Applications will work with IS Management to develop and maintain all information technology systems and services to ensure system performance, up-time, data integrity, security/confidentiality, accessibility, and employee and patient satisfaction.

Minimum Requirements
Requires a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Business and 10+ years of related experience in IT or technology services with management responsibilities. Clinical background (i.e., RN, pharmacy tech, medical lab technician, etc.) is preferred. 5-7 years of management experience. Licensure/Certification: If professional licensure/certification is required for a position other than IS, e.g., RN, then licensure must be maintained.
Other Knowledge, Skills And Abilities Required
Epic Inpatient and Ambulatory Pharmacy (Willow) and Oncology (Beacon/Radiation Oncology) applications experience is strongly preferred. Must demonstrate leadership, spirit of cooperation and participation, innovative problem resolution, and strong communication skills. Must possess the ability to translate technical requirements and procedures into well-implemented business solutions. Must remain knowledgeable of current and future changes in the health care industry, technical application systems, regulatory, and associated environments affecting systems. Must be able to write and speak clearly to communicate effectively with users. Is an expert user of patient care-related clinical information systems. Requires strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills to resolve complex clinical, systems, and personnel issues.
Additional Details
Requires occasional travel (25% or less) to other cities for seminars, professional training, continuing education, and conferences. Requires manual dexterity operating a computer keyboard (alpha/numeric keying) and/or spatial device (such as mouse/trackball) efficiently. Must be able to visually interpret the computer monitor to distinguish all colors for GUI software.
