Job summary

The Office of the Colorado Child Protection Ombudsman in Denver, Colorado is seeking a Director of Client Services to lead the department that receives and assesses concerns, explains options, and conducts objective reviews. This role reports to the Chief Executive Officer and will guide two mid-level managers to uphold service quality and accountability.

Qualifications

  • Undergrad degree in human services, social work, public administration, or related field plus at least seven years of progressive child-welfare experience.
  • At least five years of professional experience with complex case management, oversight, or reviews involving children and families.
  • At least four years of progressively responsible management experience, including direct supervision.
  • Experience with program/department operations, staffing, workload, policies, and service delivery.
  • Advanced knowledge of Colorado’s child protection system and related laws and practices.
  • Experience evaluating casework or operations to identify issues and drive improvements.
  • Experience collaborating across agencies and communicating complex information.
  • Ability to exercise independent judgment and maintain confidentiality on leadership team.

Responsibilities

  • Establish strong working relationships with managers and staff.
  • Provide leadership for and through two lead case analysts with clear accountability.
  • Evaluate operations and identify opportunities to improve efficiency, quality, and client experience.
  • Strengthen handling of complex client matters with objective review and timely resolution.
  • Use client-service data to identify systemic concerns and inform improvements.
  • Collaborate with leadership to align client services with priorities and performance expectations.
