Position Overview

Reed Smith Legal Solutions (RSLS) is seeking a dynamic and experienced Director of Client Development to lead sales operations and drive business growth. As the first sales hire, this role involves developing the go-to-market strategy, building a high-performing sales team, and establishing strategic relationships with key client groups, including Reed Smith partners, Fortune 500 legal and compliance departments, and external clients of Gravity Stack.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and execute a comprehensive sales strategy to increase revenue across target segments.
  • Build and scale a sales team, fostering a culture of excellence and client-centricity.
  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities within Reed Smith and target corporate clients.
  • Enhance brand awareness through marketing, thought leadership, and industry events.
  • Maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to facilitate seamless service integration.
  • Align sales initiatives with service capabilities and practice areas.
  • Stay informed on industry trends and competitor activities to refine strategies.
  • Establish KPIs to measure sales performance and report to leadership.
Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree required; JD or advanced degree in business or marketing is a plus.
  • At least 12 years of sales leadership experience, preferably in legal services, consulting, or legal technology sectors.
  • Experience with or selling to Am Law 100 firms and Fortune 500 companies.
  • Knowledge of Reed Smith’s key practice areas and industry verticals.
  • Proactive, entrepreneurial mindset capable of thriving in a matrix organization.
Skills and Qualifications
  • Deep understanding of legal services, legal technology, and advisory solutions.
  • Ability to develop and implement sales strategies from scratch.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and networking skills, with experience engaging senior stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with legal tech solutions and digital transformation platforms is highly desirable.
  • Proven ability to grow and manage a sales team in a results-driven environment.
Additional Information

Work environment includes office and remote work, with a minimum of 2 days/week in-office. Willingness to travel as needed. Compensation varies by location, with a comprehensive benefits package.
