Job description

Director of Children, Youth, and Family Ministries

Charlotte First UMC, a Reconciling Congregation, seeks a full-time director for children, youth, and family ministries. We are looking for an energetic and imaginative person who will implement our core values of practicing inclusion, pursuing justice, and promoting the arts. Candidates may be lay or ordained.

Qualifications: Bachelor’s or Master’s in Education, Children, Youth, Family, Divinity or equivalent; 3 or more years experience; excellent communication skills; ability to build and work with a team of volunteers; ability to be comfortable in urban environment and in ministry with neighbors without homes; comfort and ease in working with persons with special needs; skills in the arts a plus.

Responsibilities: To encourage, equip, and accompany children, youth, and families in their faith journeys; to partner with parents, staff, and others to develop and grow this ministry within the church and within the larger Metro area; to oversee Sunday children’s church time and other special events; to supervise nursery staff; to provide Safe Sanctuary training and records; to attend monthly governing board meetings and staff meetings; to communicate with families and staff through email and social media; and to perform other tasks as assigned.

Reports to Senior Pastor and Staff-Parish Relations Committee

Salary: Competitive, dependent on education and experience
