Position Overview

Divine Child High School provides a variety of opportunities for students to encounter Christ through a ministry of presence. This position will lead the Campus Ministry Department by creating and pursuing a bold vision to provide unique, engaging experiences for the community (students, staff, and families) that lead to a deepening of faith. The person who holds it should be faith-filled, highly motivated, creative, and relatable who can earnestly support the teachings of the Church. This position oversees the second Campus Minister and the Campus Ministry Coordinator. This position reports directly to the Pastor on all aspects of vision of campus ministry, and to the Principal of Divine Child High School for all other areas of the position.

Responsibilities

The position’s specific responsibilities include but are not limited to…

Vision

  • Collaborates with stakeholders including students, parents in collaboration with the adult engagement coordinator, teachers, administrators, and clergy to create, articulate, and pursue a vision for Campus Ministry
  • Ensures that the pastor and principal’s vision of spiritual formation is brought to life on the Divine Child High School campus
  • Engages in professional development to pursue best practices and approaches to bringing meaningful experiences to the school community
  • Collaborates with cross campus initiatives at the Elementary School and Parish
  • Oversees the positions of the second Campus Minister and the Campus Ministry Coordinator
  • Prepares a budget and maintains accurate financial records
  • Serves on the DCHS School Life Team as the Campus Ministry representative
  • Participates in biweekly Campus Department Heads meetings with campus staff
  • Represents Divine Child at Campus Ministry-related meetings throughout the Archdiocese of Detroit

School-Wide Programming

  • Prepares and coordinates Liturgies (including All Campus Masses), Adoration, and prayer services, including Ring Day, the Feast of St. Joseph, May Crowning, Stations of the Cross, Baccalaureate Mass, and Reconciliation services
  • Creates opportunities for students to be involved in the faith life on campus through leadership (including facilitating the Faith In Action Team) and other formation activities
  • Maintains the calendar of of campus ministry events in collaboration with the Parish office and DCCS administration

Retreats and Student Experiences

  • Develops and leads retreats for the focus on faith formation
  • Oversees faith-related experiences for students both in school and out of school (i.e. March for Life, participation in Catholic Schools Week Mass, etc.)
  • Oversees the second Campus Minister and Campus Ministry Coordinator in planning and executing class-level days of service
  • Oversees the student Christian service and retreat requirement in close collaboration with Campus Ministry Coordinator

Communication

  • Collaborates with the Campus Ministry Coordinator to produce various communications from Campus Ministry, the Campus Ministry Instagram account, and the website
  • Seeks outside programming to bring into the school community to support initiatives of the Church and support the formation of students
  • Collaborates with administration, faculty, and operations team to ensure that communication is consistent and accurate
  • Collaborates with Theology Department by participating in monthly meetings
  • Ensures, in collaboration with the Campus Minister and the Theology Department, the timely completion of “Empowering God’s Children”
  • Assists with other tasks as assigned by the Divine Child High School Principal and/or Divine Child Pastor

While a conscientious effort has been made to include all the duties and expectations, the above is not all inclusive and the position’s duties may be expanded or modified at the discretion of the Pastor or Principal.

Qualifications/Requirements

  • A practicing Catholic who adheres to the Teachings of the Catholic Church
  • Five to seven years of work in a ministry-related setting
  • Degree in theology, pastoral ministry, a related field, or an equivalent certification
  • Eagerness to engage in daily relational ministry with students
  • Must complete all required background checks, fingerprints; and must complete the Protecting God’s Children archdiocese workshop.
