Position Overview: Director of Business Development, Cold Storage & Fulfillment

In this fully remote role, you will leverage your extensive knowledge of freight brokerage operations to build and maintain strong relationships with carriers and clients, ensuring optimal logistics solutions and driving revenue growth. Your responsibilities include generating leads, advancing the sales process, and closing new business for the RLS Cold Storage and Fulfillment business units. You will conduct research to identify leads and reach business targets through telephone, email, and in-person interactions. Additionally, you will participate in planning and executing company marketing activities, providing input based on your interactions with prospects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and expand a portfolio of clients, identifying their logistics needs and providing tailored cold storage and direct-to-consumer pick and pack solutions.
  • Cold-call prospects generated by external sources of leads.
  • Develop sales opportunities by researching and identifying potential accounts.
  • Develop new domestic markets based on demand, and customer relationships.
  • Identifying key decision-makers to initiate sales.
  • Collaborate with team members to determine necessary strategic sales approaches.
  • Maintain and expand the company's database of prospects.
  • Assist in creating RFP responses to potential clients.
  • Conduct market research to identify trends and opportunities for growth within the cold storage and direct to consumer pick and pack sectors.
  • Emphasize product/service features and benefits and generate proposals.
  • Enter new customer data and update changes to existing accounts in the corporate database and CRM.
  • Work with various teams to ensure smooth communication, logistics onboarding, and service delivery.
  • Attain predetermined performance metrics as outlined by your manager.
  • Gather all necessary and pertinent information to profile the opportunity to Operations.
  • Identify and capitalize on opportunities to cross-sell and up-sell RLS services.
  • Lead onboarding of larger enterprise accounts.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor's Degree preferred but not required.
  • Experience: 5+ years in cold storage warehousing sales (Port-centric preferred but not mandatory).
  • Proven track record of successfully managing client relationships and driving revenue growth.
  • Formal sales training certification or proven track record of applying a structured sales process to achieve and exceed performance targets.
  • Strong negotiation skills with a keen understanding of market dynamics.
  • Familiarity with warehouse management systems software and tools.
  • Established network within the cold storage and logistics industry.
  • Experience with compliance regulations and best practices in cold storage warehousing.
  • Experience with a direct-to-consumer business model and sales process.

Travel Requirements: Customer visits approved by a manager.
