Position Summary:

We are seeking a highly technical and results-driven Business Development Director to lead our U.S. commercial expansion efforts. This role is focused on driving new customer acquisition in the pharma and biotech sectors with a specific emphasis on drug substance and custom manufacturing services. The ideal candidate has a strong scientific background, experience in service-based sales, and thrives in a hunter-style BD role with autonomy and strategic impact.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Identify, prospect, and close new business with pharma and biotech companies for contract development and manufacturing services.
  • Serve as the technical-commercial bridge between prospective clients and internal R&D, process development, and manufacturing teams.
  • Lead strategic pipeline development activities and engage decision-makers at trade shows, conferences, and direct meetings.
  • Collaborate with global leadership to align sales efforts with U.S. market goals and corporate strategy.
  • Provide accurate forecasting of sales activities and maintain CRM discipline.

Required Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of sales or business development experience in a CDMO environment, with a focus on drug substance/custom synthesis.
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, or a related life sciences field.
  • Previous lab experience or scientific training strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to prospect, build pipeline, and close service-based contracts in long sales cycles.
  • Strong client engagement and communication skills, including video conference and in-person presence.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience navigating multinational organizations and matrixed technical teams.
  • Familiarity with CRM platforms, market research tools, and digital prospecting platforms (ZoomInfo, LinkedIn Sales Navigator, etc.)
