Job description

AgeWave Solutions | Central Florida | Full-Time, In-Office
About the Role

AgeWave Solutions is seeking a highly skilled Director of BIM & Design Technology to lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of our company-wide CAD/BIM standards, design technology, and production automation systems.

We are an established, growing architecture, structural engineering, and CAD production firm serving residential and commercial clients throughout Florida.

Our team works extensively in AutoCAD Architecture, Revit and Forma, producing everything from high-volume production residential construction documents to custom homes, multifamily developments, and commercial projects.

We are looking for someone who combines the expertise of a BIM Manager, CAD Technology Specialist, process improvement leader, and technical problem solver.

This is not a traditional BIM coordination position, nor is it solely a software development role. We need someone who understands how architectural and engineering drawings are actually produced, can establish and enforce company-wide standards, and can identify opportunities to make our production processes more efficient, consistent, accurate, and automated.

The ideal candidate will be equally comfortable developing CAD/BIM standards, troubleshooting complex drawing issues, building automation tools, training staff, and collaborating with our architecture, engineering, CAD production, and software development teams.

This position will play a critical role in shaping the future of design technology at AgeWave Solutions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop, implement, maintain, and continuously improve company-wide CAD/BIM standards across AutoCAD Architecture and Autodesk Revit.
  • Establish standardized drawing templates, project setup procedures, layer conventions, object styles, annotation standards, dimension styles, plotting standards, and sheet organization.
  • Develop and maintain standardized Revit families, project templates, shared parameters, schedules, view templates, and model organization standards.
  • Manage AutoCAD Architecture-specific standards, including AEC objects, wall styles, door/window styles, dynamic blocks, tool palettes, project standards, and reusable drawing components.
  • Establish consistent workflows between architectural and structural engineering departments.
  • Develop and maintain centralized CAD/BIM libraries, standard details, templates, and production resources.
  • Implement standards for file organization, naming conventions, version control, model coordination, and drawing management.
  • Create quality-control procedures to ensure standards are followed across projects and departments.
  • Establish effective workflows for interoperability between AutoCAD Architecture, Revit, and other production systems.
  • Maintain documentation and provide training to ensure consistent adoption of standards.
2. CAD/BIM Production Optimization
  • Evaluate existing architectural and structural drawing production workflows to identify inefficiencies, repetitive tasks, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Work directly with production staff and department leadership to understand bottlenecks and develop practical solutions.
  • Improve drawing consistency, production speed, accuracy, and coordination.
  • Develop standardized workflows for project setup, drawing production, revisions, coordination, and final deliverables.
  • Improve management of prototype plans, design options, standard details, and repetitive production tasks.
  • Implement automated and semi-automated quality-control procedures to reduce drawing errors and omissions.
  • Establish measurable improvements in production efficiency and drawing quality.
  • Ensure technology solutions are practical, scalable, and compatible with real-world production requirements.

A major focus of this position will be identifying and implementing opportunities to automate repetitive design and drafting processes.

Responsibilities include:

  • Develop and implement AutoCAD automation tools using AutoLISP, Visual LISP, .NET, C#, scripts, and other applicable technologies.
  • Create and maintain intelligent dynamic blocks, parametric components, custom commands, and automated drawing routines.
  • Develop Revit automation workflows using Dynamo, the Revit API, Python, C#, or similar tools.
  • Automate repetitive tasks such as drawing setup, sheet creation, annotation, scheduling, data extraction, plotting, and quality checks.
  • Develop automated workflows for configuring production residential plans based on predefined options and project-specific requirements.
  • Explore rule-based systems that can automatically apply design changes, select components, and configure drawing packages.
  • Improve the use of structured project data to drive CAD/BIM production.
  • Collaborate with our internal software development team to integrate CAD/BIM workflows with our custom ERP and project management systems.
  • Evaluate emerging AI technologies and their potential applications in architectural and engineering production.
  • Build, test, document, and maintain automation tools that can be reliably used by production staff.
4. BIM Coordination & Technical Oversight
  • Serve as the company’s primary technical resource for AutoCAD Architecture and Revit.
  • Establish best practices for model organization, worksharing, linked files, coordinates, and multidisciplinary coordination.
  • Oversee BIM-related technical standards for architectural and structural projects.
  • Identify and resolve model conflicts, drawing inconsistencies, and technical workflow problems.
  • Develop appropriate model review, clash detection, and coordination procedures.
  • Ensure consistency between architectural drawings, structural drawings, schedules, details, and specifications.
  • Evaluate software updates, new tools, plugins, and technology platforms.
  • Work with leadership to establish a long-term CAD/BIM technology strategy.
5. Training, Support & Technology Leadership
  • Train CAD technicians, designers, architects, and engineers on company standards, best practices, and new technology.
  • Develop internal training materials, standard operating procedures, and technical documentation.
  • Provide advanced troubleshooting and technical support for AutoCAD Architecture and Revit.
  • Promote consistency and accountability in the use of company standards.
  • Work closely with department leadership to prioritize technology improvements.
  • Lead the implementation of new tools and workflows from initial concept through company-wide adoption.
  • Develop systems for tracking the effectiveness and adoption of technology improvements.
Required Qualifications
  • Significant professional experience in architectural or engineering CAD/BIM production, design technology, or BIM management.
  • Advanced proficiency in both AutoCAD Architecture and Autodesk Revit.
  • Strong understanding of architectural construction documents, drafting standards, detailing, and production workflows.
  • Demonstrated experience developing and implementing CAD/BIM standards across teams or organizations.
  • Experience creating and managing AutoCAD Architecture templates, dynamic blocks, AEC objects, tool palettes, and production standards.
  • Experience managing Revit families, templates, parameters, schedules, and model standards.
  • Strong technical troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
  • Experience identifying and implementing workflow improvements or automation solutions.
  • Understanding of architectural and structural coordination.
  • Ability to develop clear documentation, train employees, and drive adoption of standards.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work directly with both technical production staff and company leadership.
Highly Preferred Qualifications
  • Programming experience with AutoLISP, Visual LISP, C#, .NET, Python, Dynamo, or the Autodesk APIs.
  • Experience in high-volume production residential design, including prototype plans, lot-specific configurations, and option management.
  • Experience with rule-based design automation or parametric drawing systems.
  • Familiarity with Autodesk Construction Cloud, BIM Collaborate Pro, and other collaboration platforms.
  • Experience integrating CAD/BIM software with databases, ERP systems, APIs, or custom software applications.
  • Knowledge of automated drawing validation, model checking, and quality-control systems.
  • Experience with AI-assisted design technology or workflow automation.
  • Background working with integrated architecture and structural engineering teams.
  • Experience managing technology initiatives or leading CAD/BIM teams.
