Job description

The full-time Director is responsible for the day-to-day operations of Beginnings Preschool and Child Care, which is a full-day, year-round program that exists to provide early learning and care and develop the innate kindness, love, and worth of each individual child. The Director works with the Beginnings Advisory Board to plan for the educational needs of all age groups within the program, as well as for staff supervision. The Director works with the pastoral staff and elected leadership of First Baptist Church of Indianapolis to ensure that the child care and preschool programs function effectively and serve the mission of the congregation.

Essential Functions:

1. Provides visionary leadership and strategic direction for the preschool and child care programs. Leverages human and financial resources to ensure a stable and sustainable future.
2. Designs, oversees, and evaluates the overall education program of Beginnings Preschool and Child Care. Monitors and ensures compliance with all regulations (including Paths to Quality, Level 3 requirements.)
3. Supervises teachers and other program staff. Recruits, trains, and manages staff to effectively implement the education program and provide quality care to students and families.
4. Oversees and/or performs all administrative functions, including setting schedules, maintaining systems for payroll, tuition payments, fundraising, and enrollment, and creating and managing yearly budgets.
5. Communicates effectively with teachers, staff, families and the congregation of First Baptist Church. promotes the values and furthers the mission of the congregation and of Beginnings Preschool and Child Care.

Position Requirements:

1. Undergraduate degree in child development, early childhood, or elementary education strongly preferred. Previous experience in using and supervising staff in the use of Conscious Discipline preferred.
2. At least five years of experience working with children, particularly ages 6 weeks to 5 years; experience in administrative leadership strongly preferred.
3. Ability to manage both people and resources efficiently and graciously.
4. Pass Criminal History background check, CPR training, First Aid certification, and other necessary tests as required.
