Job summary

East Texas A&M University invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track Director of Band & Instrumental Activities. The successful candidate will provide artistic and programmatic leadership for the university’s band program while contributing to teaching, research, and service.

The role includes reduced teaching load to accommodate administrative duties, determined annually with the School of Music Director.

Qualifications

• Doctorate in Music Education, Conducting, or closely related field from an accredited institution (equivalent experience considered).
• At least three years as Director/Assistant Director of Bands at the university level.

Responsibilities

• Conduct the Wind Ensemble (top ensemble).
• Teach graduate and undergraduate conducting.
• Teach graduate coursework in instrumental repertoire and pedagogy.
• Organize and administer a comprehensive university band program including ensembles and athletic bands.
• Provide leadership of the band staff and instrumental faculty; oversee program development.
• Recruit for the band and university at regional and state levels; promote the program at events.
