Google LLC in Sunnyvale, CA is seeking a Software Engineering Manager focused on frontier AI, AI-Engineering, and Autonomous Cloud initiatives. You will lead multiple teams, set technical strategy, and guide engineers across cross-functional areas including information retrieval, AI, and distributed computing.

The role emphasizes mentoring, strategic planning, and delivering large-scale, production-ready AI systems.

Qualifications

• PhD in Computer Science, Mathematics, or other relevant engineering discipline or equivalent practical experience.
• 15 years of software engineering experience building and working with large-scale systems in a technology organization.
• 5 years of experience leading frontier-level AI, AI-Engineering, Agentic Engineering, Applied AI solutions and ML-related technologies to solve real-world AI/ML problems in consumer or enterprise applications.
• 5 years of experience as a Software Engineering leader in ML Infrastructure, ML or AI for products, or related fields.
• Experience with technical innovation within cross-functional engineering environments.
• Experience leading engineering teams through organizational and technical transformations.

Responsibilities

• Partner with Product Manager Lead and Uber Tech Lead to define technical strategy and accelerate Autonomous, Agentic development, AI-Engineering, and Agent Harness innovations across AutoCloud priorities.
• Oversee integration of Agent Platforms and expansion of Autonomous agent lifecycles and experiences.
• Establish eval harness as the authoritative quality gate and drive transition to an eval-first environment.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to build joint roadmaps and drive adoption of Autonomous Cloud.
• Produce scalable and reliable software systems and contribute to product strategy across AI/ML domains.
