SUMMARY

The U.S. Center for SafeSport is a non-profit organization focused on ending all forms of abuse in sport. We endeavor to make athlete well-being the centerpiece of the nation’s sports culture through abuse prevention, education, and accountability.

POSITION SUMMARY

To lead the audit team and audit processes at the Center and ensure regular and random audits are conducted on an annual basis of all NGBs and the USOPC.

Requirements

Essential Functions

  • Evaluate the audit team’s delivery of services, effectiveness and efficiencies and provide regular updates to ODC team
  • Create, develop and refine internal/external audit standards, controls, protocols and practices. This includes annual updates to the Center’s Audit Manual
  • Develop appropriate milestones and launch schedules to ensure timely and successful delivery of regular and random audits of the USOPC and the NGBs on an annual basis
  • Provide monthly and year-end summary reports of key audit findings and high -risk areas for all organizations within the Movement
  • Conduct ongoing review of all supporting documentation internally (workpapers) and externally (provided by NGBs to address outstanding corrective actions)
  • Manage, supervise and track the performance of compliance auditors and conduct post audit meetings as necessary
  • Manage and create audit team budget to ensure annual audits and appropriate follow up
  • Collaborate with USOPC Director of Audit to ensure all USOPC/NGB corrective measures are appropriately addressed and proper procedures are followed
  • Oversee onboarding and training of all new auditors
  • Oversee ongoing professional development of all auditors

Other Job Functions

  • Conduct webinars and informational sessions for NGBs with new standards or trends within the Movement
  • Oversee compliance/audit committees to review Manual or other audit materials and needs
  • Act as liaison with outside organizations to ensure consistency when policies overlap with other organizations

Experience & Qualifications (Required)

  • Extensive understanding of creation of compliance, audit standards and policy
  • Excellent interpersonal and analytical skills
  • Exceptional writing and verbal communication and attention to detail
  • Ability to think critically and strategically on a regular basis, strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize workload in extremely fast paced environment
  • High level of flexibility in communication style
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft office suite
  • Superior leadership abilities including, but not limited to, delegation, problem solving, management, integrity and motivation.
  • At least 6 years’ experience in audit or compliance related field

Experience & Qualifications (Preferred)

  • High emotional intelligence, strong decisive nature, strong background for innovation and creativity
  • JD Preferred

WORK REQUIREMENTS & ENVIRONMENT

  • Standard office equipment provided
  • Office environment in multi-story, dog-friendly building
  • Some night and weekend work hours
  • Some overnight travel required

WORK LOCATION – Denver, CO; or a location deemed suitable by the Center (e.g., near major airport).

This is a full-time, exempt position. The starting salary range for this position is $115,000 - $127,000, and will be commensurate with background and experience.
