Description
Position Summary:
The Director of Assessment, Curriculum and Instruction provides direct support for content areas which may include 4K-12 Reading, English Language Arts, Social Studies, Science, RtI, Health, Physical Education, Fine Arts, etc. (content area leadership assignments can be updated as needed by the Deputy Chief of Curriculum, Instruction & Achievement). This position works collaboratively with the Deputy Chief of Curriculum, Instruction & Achievement, Assistant Superintendent and Director of Special Education to provide appropriate instructional services and delivery of appropriate curriculum to all students in the least restrictive environment.
Education And Experience
Master’s Degree with certification as a Director of Instruction. Experience as a Director of Curriculum and Instruction with a preference for additional experience as a directing principal or assistant principal.
Licenses And Certifications
Director of Curriculum and Instruction DPI #5010, Principal DPI #5051 required. Reading Specialist DPI #1317 desired (or be eligible for certification).
Fiscal Responsibilities
- Works collaboratively with Deputy Chief of Assessment, Curriculum & Instruction and Assistant Superintendent to oversee and manage textbook and other resource budgets, Curriculum and Instruction budgets, and Title I and IIa funds. Ensures that resources are used to implement curriculum based on Wisconsin State Standards and Common Core Standards; and ensures that all professional learning is coordinated for all teachers, educational assistants, support staff, and principals.

Essential Functions
- Ensures that content area curricula are aligned to applicable district-approved content area standards. Content area leadership assignments can be updated as needed by the Deputy Chief of Assessment, Curriculum & Instruction and Assistant Superintendent.
- Effectively supports school-based Instructional Coaches.
- Makes appropriate equipment and materials available to all staff to ensure that all students receive appropriate services.
- Ensures that the Course Master within the Student Management System is accurate and adheres to the Wisconsin Coursework Completion System requirements.
- Works collaboratively with the Deputy Chief of Assessment, Curriculum & Instruction, other Curriculum and Instruction Supervisors and Assistant Superintendent to organize and deliver professional development to all staff members in the following areas: instructional framework, differentiation of instruction, EMLSS, inclusive practices, and state and federal standards, etc.
- Works collaboratively with the Deputy Chief of Assessment, Curriculum & Instruction, Assistant Superintendent and other Curriculum Supervisors to provide supplementary instructional materials to students with disabilities that contain the same content, concepts, and skills as the adopted curriculum.
- Works collaboratively with the Deputy Chief of Assessment, Curriculum & Instruction and Assistant Superintendent to coordinate the delivery of all educational services to all students in grades PreK-12 to ensure that all students reach the benchmarks on the North Star trajectory to graduate college and/or career ready.
- Works collaboratively to provide vision, guidance, and support to Early Childhood and/or the Academies of Racine.
- Co-monitor district initiatives.
Work Environment
Busy office environment with multiple priorities and frequent interruptions.
Physical Demands
- Ability to sit or stand for prolonged periods, up to six hours in an eight-hour day
- Ability to perform light physical work, frequently lifting up to thirty pounds without assistance in an indoor setting
- Ability to communicate effectively on the telephone and in person to provide information and assistance
- Ability to move throughout the building and from building to building
- Dexterity and hand/eye coordination necessary to operate computer keyboard and other office equipment such as fax machine, copier, etc.
- Hearing ability adequate to participate in numerous conversations throughout the day, both in person and over the telephone
- Ability to complete job activities in an environment where background noise and frequent interruptions are the norm
- Ability to maintain concentration and focus on tasks requiring timeliness and accuracy
