The Role

We are seeking a technically fluent and strategically minded Director of Applied AI to lead the development, deployment, and scaling of Generative AI solutions across the business. Reporting to the VP of Data Intelligence and sitting on the Data & AI leadership team, you will oversee initiatives that improve operational efficiency, generate revenue impact, and transform the user experience.

This role is a rare opportunity to combine strategic vision with hands-on delivery, leading a high-leverage team working on a range of applications from voice and chat agents to document intelligence and GenAI-powered insights.

What You’ll Do

• Drive the company’s Applied AI strategy across functions like customer support, sales enablement, employee tools, and business intelligence
• Lead a growing team, including a Senior GenAI Product Manager and Applied AI Engineers
• Identify and prioritize high-impact use cases in collaboration with Product, Engineering, Sales, and Operations
• Evaluate, select, and integrate third-party AI vendors and platforms
• Build and deliver AI capabilities such as:
• Voice and chat-based digital agents
• LLM-based knowledge assistants using RAG and vector search
• AI-powered document classification and OCR
• Summarization and insight generation tools
• Support rapid prototyping and iterate quickly where off-the-shelf tools are insufficient
• Maintain roadmaps, ensure business alignment, and engage regularly with executive leadership
• Uphold best practices in governance, privacy, and production-grade reliability
• Stay current on emerging trends, technologies, and frameworks to inform long-term AI investment strategy

Who You Are

• Strong experience in data science, applied AI, or machine learning roles, including 2+ years of leadership experience
• Strong background in building and deploying production-ready AI applications, particularly in GenAI and conversational AI
• Demonstrated success integrating AI vendor tools and APIs into business workflows
• Skilled communicator who can distill complex topics for non-technical stakeholders
• Proficient in Python and SQL, with hands-on experience in LLMs, RAG pipelines, vector databases, and prompt design
• Adept at managing small, cross-functional teams and driving projects from concept to delivery
• Comfortable navigating high-volume, fast-paced environments with shifting priorities
• Familiar with enterprise technology evaluation, data governance, and cross-functional collaboration

Preferred Experience

• Background in consumer services, fintech, or operations-heavy industries
• Experience with voice AI or telephony-based conversational platforms
• Familiarity with Salesforce integrations and data flows
• Exposure to enterprise AI platforms such as DataRobot, Snowflake, or similar
