Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business, or related discipline; equivalent experience.
• 10–12 years in technology, incl. 10+ years directing enterprise business applications and roadmaps.
• 7+ years in commercial real estate sector; 7+ years supporting enterprise apps for accounting, budgeting, forecasting, financial management.
• Experience with CRM, property management, HCM, and ERP platforms; ability to translate business needs into technical requirements, delivery plans, and investment proposals.
• Proven success leading managers and multidisciplinary teams; strong executive communication, strategic planning, problem solving, relationship management, and accountability.

Responsibilities

• Guide the enterprise application portfolio strategy, including architecture, delivery, integration, maintenance, release planning, testing, and adoption.
• Oversee multiple technology functions and develop managers, analysts, admins, developers, and other professionals while promoting accountability and collaboration.
• Maintain multiyear technology roadmaps, budgets, resource plans, delivery priorities, service measures, and performance reporting.
• Facilitate partnerships with executives and leaders to evaluate opportunities, manage agreements, control risk, and improve results.
• Ensure application security, data integrity, compliance, reliability, and support major implementations and modernization efforts.

Job Title: Director of Application Development

Job Overview:

Contemporary Staffing Solutions is seeking a Director of Application Development to join our client in a role that supports key business operations and contributes to important organizational initiatives. This leadership position will shape application strategy, guide a diverse technical team, and strengthen the systems that support financial and real estate operations. Located in Detroit, MI, this Hybrid, Direct Hire opportunity offers meaningful collaboration with senior business and technology leaders on modernization efforts, major system changes, and investment priorities. Success will require enterprise application expertise, sound business judgment, strong relationship management, and the ability to turn organizational needs into practical technology solutions.

Compensation:

$170,000 to $200,000 annual salary

Work Schedule:

Monday through Thursday onsite and Friday remote, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Key Responsibilities of the Director of Application Development:

• Guide the direction and performance of the enterprise application portfolio, including architecture, delivery, integration, maintenance, release planning, testing, and organizational adoption.
• Oversee multiple technology functions and develop managers, analysts, administrators, developers, and other application professionals while promoting accountability, service, and collaboration.
• Maintain multiyear technology roadmaps, operating budgets, resource plans, delivery priorities, service measures, and performance reporting that align application investments with business needs.
• Facilitate partnerships with executives, operational leaders, technology teams, consultants, and service providers to evaluate opportunities, manage commercial agreements, control risk, and improve results.
• Ensure application security, data integrity, compliance, reliability, and continuous improvement while supporting major implementations, platform upgrades, migrations, modernization efforts, and ongoing customer relationship management system needs.

Qualifications and Skills for the Director of Application Development:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business, or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and professional experience.
• Ten to twelve years of relevant technology experience, including at least ten years directing enterprise business application functions and demonstrated ownership of application strategy, portfolio planning, and long term roadmaps.
• At least seven years of experience within the commercial real estate sector, along with seven or more years supporting enterprise applications or systems used for accounting, budgeting, forecasting, and financial management.
• Experience with customer relationship management, property management, human capital management, and enterprise resource planning platforms, plus the ability to convert business needs into technical requirements, delivery plans, and investment proposals.
• Proven success leading managers and multidisciplinary technical teams, with strong executive communication, strategic planning, problem solving, technical judgment, relationship management, and personal accountability.
