Job summary

Patterson-UTI Drilling Company seeks an experienced oil and gas drilling leader to define, develop, and drive the adoption of AI-powered products and digital solutions across drilling operations and customer workflows.

The ideal candidate will bring deep drilling domain expertise and a track record applying AI/GenAI to real-world problems, translating challenges into scalable products and measurable value in field operations.

Qualifications

• 10+ years in oil and gas with experience in drilling operations, drilling technology, well construction, or digital solutions.
• Proven track record deploying digital, AI, or GenAI solutions delivering measurable value.
• Experience leading technology or digital product initiatives from problem identification to deployment and adoption.
• Strong ability to translate business and operational needs into product strategies and roadmaps.

Responsibilities

• Lead the vision, strategy, roadmap, and lifecycle of AI-enabled products supporting drilling operations, performance, and customer digital solutions.
• Partner with operations, engineering, customers, and commercial teams to identify opportunities where AI and analytics improve performance.
• Translate challenges into product requirements, use cases, and measurable success criteria; drive field trials to production deployment.
• Define product requirements for integrating real-time and historical rig telemetry, drilling reports, downhole data, and third-party data.
• Champion Generative AI, Computer Vision, ML, automation, AI copilots, and NLP within drilling workflows.
• Collaborate with Data Science, SWE, and Data Engineering to deliver secure, scalable products.
• Evaluate emerging AI platforms and partnerships to accelerate delivery.
• Build and mentor an AI Products & Solutions team and drive adoption across operations.
• Drive field deployment, training, and customer engagement to embed AI products.
• Maintain strong customer and field engagement, representing Patterson-UTI in industry discussions.
• Identify opportunities for commercially viable AI-enabled products and services.
