A public research university is seeking a Director of AI and Data Solutions to lead AI initiatives and data projects. This remote position requires a Master's degree and strong programming skills in Python, R, SQL, or Java. The successful candidate will manage AI solutions and collaborate with various departments to enhance decision-making processes. Preferred qualifications include a Ph.D. and experience in a higher education environment.
Director of AI and Data Solutions at ODU. You will lead the strategic vision, development, and implementation of artificial intelligence, machine learning, data engineering, and data integration initiatives. You will play a key leadership role in transforming how data is used to inform decision-making, improve services, and enable intelligent automation across the university. This position requires strong cross-functional collaboration with IT, academic departments, institutional research, and external partners to deliver scalable and ethical data-driven solutions aligned with the university's goals.

This is a remote position, requiring a traditional 40-hour work week. Computer equipment will be supplied; high speed internet is the responsibility of the employee.
The equipment provided to staff with approved telework agreements enables them to deliver vital services to University faculty, staff, and students from remote locations. Many of our operations can and should continue as usual, even when the main physical campus is closed. Therefore, all Division of Transformation & Technology employees with an approved telework agreement are generally expected to work during official University closures.
