Qualifications

• Proven experience leading AI initiatives in a product, research, or consultancy environment.
• Deep understanding of machine learning, natural language processing, generative models, and data systems.
• Hands-on with modern AI frameworks (e.g., PyTorch, TensorFlow, LangChain, Hugging Face).
• Strong product sensibility: connect AI with user needs and business goals.
• Demonstrated experience managing and growing technical teams.
• Excellent communication skills with clients, executives, and cross-disciplinary teams.
• Passion for staying ahead of AI advancements with pragmatic deployment.

Responsibilities

• Define and lead the AI roadmap for client-facing solutions and internal innovation.
• Work with product and engineering leads to design, prototype, and deploy AI systems.
• Oversee research into emerging AI models and translate into actionable product opportunities.
• Collaborate with business development to identify AI opportunities and articulate value.
• Build and mentor a team of AI engineers, researchers, and applied data scientists.
• Develop and enforce best practices for AI ethics and responsible deployment.
• Represent Utility externally as an AI thought leader through engagements and advisory sessions.

Who You Are

The Director of AI will lead Utility's AI practice, setting the vision for how we leverage machine learning, generative AI, and intelligent automation across our client projects and internal tools. This is not just a technical leadership position; it's a strategic role that requires a balance of product thinking, applied research, and operational execution. You will be responsible for guiding AI strategy, mentoring a growing AI team, and ensuring that our work consistently pushes the boundaries of what's possible while staying grounded in practical, real‑world applications.

What You'll Do

• Define and lead the AI roadmap for Utility, including both client-facing solutions and internal innovation.
• Work closely with product and engineering leads to design, prototype, and deploy AI systems that enhance product functionality and deliver measurable value.
• Oversee research into emerging AI models, frameworks, and best practices, translating new capabilities into actionable product opportunities.
• Collaborate with business development and client strategy teams to identify and scope AI-driven opportunities, and articulate a clear value proposition for our clients.
• Build and mentor a team of AI engineers, researchers, and applied data scientists, fostering a culture of experimentation and learning.
• Develop and enforce best practices for AI ethics, responsible deployment, and transparency in our work.
• Represent Utility externally as a thought leader in AI through speaking engagements, articles, and client advisory sessions.
