Job summary

The Country Club of Charleston seeks a visionary Director of Agronomy to lead all aspects of golf course and grounds operations. You will guide agronomic programs, manage a budget, and collaborate with senior leadership to deliver championship conditions while maintaining the Club’s heritage and sustainability goals.

Responsibilities include overseeing turf health, irrigation, pest control, and landscape management, while driving safety, efficiency, and professional development within the team.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Agronomy, Horticulture, or Turfgrass Science required.
• 8–10 years of progressive golf course management experience.
• Supervisory experience in a club or golf course setting.
• Proven expertise in managing warm-season turfgrasses in the southeastern US preferred.

Responsibilities

• Oversee all aspects of golf course maintenance, including turf health, irrigation, pest control, and landscape management.
• Develop and implement agronomic programs to optimize playability, aesthetics, and sustainability.
• Develop and manage the department’s operating and capital budgets.
• Collaborate with the General Manager, Director of Golf, and Green Committee on long-term course planning and projects.
• Lead, train, and develop a high-performance agronomy team; ensure safety and accountability.
