Job summary
MKS Instruments seeks a Director of Advanced Development to lead the Plasma, Reactive Gas, and Controls technology portfolio. You will shape multi-year roadmaps, guide breakthrough programs, and partner with engineers, product management, and leadership to translate science into scalable products.
You will mentor scientists and engineers, manage budgets, and advance IP strategy while communicating strategy and risks to executives.
Qualifications
- PhD or Master’s degree in Engineering, Materials Science, Physics, Chemistry, Applied Science, or a related technical discipline.
- 12+ years of progressive experience in technology development, product development, R&D, or advanced engineering leadership.
- Demonstrated success leading advanced technology programs from concept to commercialization.
- Experience developing technology roadmaps and translating strategic objectives into executable programs.
- Strong understanding of product development processes and TRLs.
Responsibilities
- Define and execute a multi-year technology roadmap aligned with business strategy and industry trends.
- Lead advanced development programs from concept through proof-of-concept to commercialization.
- Build and lead a high-performing, multidisciplinary engineering team.
- Manage budgets, investments, and technology portfolios with leadership oversight.
- Communicate strategy, program status, and technical risks to executive leadership.
