Overview

Director of Administration - Gottfried & Somberg Wealth Management
Location: Glastonbury, CT
Type: Full-Time

About Us
Gottfried & Somberg is a growing independent wealth management firm serving a diverse base of high-net-worth individuals and families. With approximately $2.4B in AUM, (as of September 1st 2025) our firm is in the midst of a major platform transition and operating model transformation. We have introduced an “Advisor Pod” structure, pairing Wealth Advisors with dedicated Relationship Managers and Analysts, to improve scale, elevate client experience, and ensure we are ready for the future of wealth management.

About the Role
The Director of Administration will serve as the leader of our Relationship Manager (RM) and Reception teams, ensuring that client service is delivered consistently and at the highest standard. This role is responsible for building team structure, setting expectations, and ensuring accountability across all service functions.

In addition, the Director will play a critical role in our upcoming transition to LPL Financial, leading technology adoption, data migration, and workflow redesign. This is a highly visible leadership role that requires a balance of people management, operational oversight, and comfort driving change across systems and processes.

We are looking for an experienced leader who can develop a strong client service team, enforce standards for CRM and data quality, and partner with firm leadership to implement new platforms and tools.

Your Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage the RM and Reception teams, setting clear roles, expectations, and performance standards
  • Oversee client service operations including CRM data management, workflows, reporting, cashiering, compliance, and meeting preparation
  • Establish and enforce standards for CRM usage, documentation, and data quality to ensure reliability and regulatory compliance
  • Own accountability for the firm’s LPL transition, including technology platform setup, data migration, training, and adoption
  • Partner with LPL, IT vendors, and firm leadership to implement new systems, test functionality, and ensure consistent usage across the team
  • Coach, develop, and evaluate team members to support professional growth and build a collaborative, client-focused culture
  • Ensure team SOPs, training materials, and onboarding plans are current and aligned with evolving processes
  • Identify and lead improvements to client service delivery, ensuring a consistent “white glove” experience across all client segments
  • Oversee reception and front-office responsibilities, ensuring a welcoming and professional client experience
What You Bring
  • 10+ years of experience in client service operations, team leadership, or administrative management within financial services
  • Proven ability to lead teams through change, particularly during technology transitions or platform conversions
  • Strong understanding of CRM platforms, client data management, and workflow tools used in advisory firms
  • Experience setting standards for system usage, reporting accuracy, and workflow integration
  • Excellent communication skills; able to collaborate across all levels of the firm and with external partners
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, growing environment
  • Familiarity with regulatory considerations in an RIA environment; Series 65/66 a plus
  • Bachelor’s degree required (business administration, management, or related field preferred)

Why This Role
This is an opportunity to step into a leadership role at a growing, entrepreneurial wealth management firm. You will be directly responsible for shaping our client service function, ensuring we deliver consistent excellence while adopting new technology platforms. As our firm evolves, you’ll play a central role in scaling our operations and preparing for the future of wealth management.
