Southern Gothic Media is seeking a Director of Ad Sales & Brand Partnerships to help lead monetization across our growing podcast network. This is a commission-only, contract role designed for a scrappy, entrepreneurial sales pro who wants to build something from the ground up. You’ll work directly with our founder to shape the future of our revenue strategy—pitching niche-aligned brands, developing creative sponsorship packages, and closing deals that connect advertisers with our highly engaged, half-million-strong monthly audience. If you love podcasts, spooky stories, and the thrill of the close, this might be your next great gig. Previous experience in the podcast industry is not required; however, experience with sales in a similar form of media is required.

ABOUT SOUTHERN GOTHIC MEDIA:

Southern Gothic Media is a podcast production company and independent audio network specializing in dark history, true crime, and paranormal storytelling. With hit shows like Southern Gothic and Fear Daily, our content reaches nearly 500,000 downloads each month—an audience of highly engaged podcast fans who live Halloween year-round.

Our listeners are predominantly upper-middle class, college-educated, and deeply loyal to the niche world of spooky storytelling, historical mysteries, and true crime.

Founded by storyteller Brandon Schexnayder, Southern Gothic Media has grown from a single podcast into a creative network of unique voices exploring America’s haunted past and forgotten legends. Now, we're building a new side of the business—connecting unique brands to our niche audience—and we’re looking for the right person to build it with us.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Build and manage a robust ad sales pipeline using HubSpot CRM
  • Identify and pitch niche-aligned sponsors (e.g., ghost tours, horror conventions, spooky retailers, indie publishers)
  • Create custom pitch decks, rate cards, and partnership packages with support from the founder
  • Lead all outbound sales activities: cold contact, follow-ups, and closing
  • Brainstorm custom integration opportunities: newsletter sponsorships, host-read branded episodes, product placements
  • Help define and refine pricing strategy, bonus structures, and creative ad formats
  • Track and report leads, sales progress, and revenue performance

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Some experience in sales, partnerships, or business development.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Comfort with managing your own pipeline and time
  • Working knowledge of HubSpot or similar CRMs
  • Bonus: Experience selling podcast ads or sponsorships
  • Bonus: Familiarity with the true crime, paranormal, or horror space

COMPENSATION STRUCTURE:

  • Commission-only: 20% on all deals you close
  • Bonus incentives for hitting monthly sales targets
  • Flexible hours and fully remote
