Job summary

Profound, an on-site role based in NYC or San Francisco, is seeking an accomplished accounting leader to own the company’s accounting, audit, and tax functions, including payroll, deal desk, and procurement.

The role requires 6+ years in accounting, GAAP expertise, and CPA preferred; you will partner with a top-tier firm, manage close processes, and help plan an ERP transition, with a competitive base salary.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of accounting experience, including 2+ years at a high-growth startup.
• Background in audit or accounting preferred.
• Deep understanding of GAAP accounting and audit compliance.
• Hands-on experience with AP/AR, monthly close, financial reporting, and systems management.
• Detail-oriented, process-driven, able to operate independently in a fast-paced environment.
• Experience building and leading an accounting team over time.
• CPA preferred.

Responsibilities

• Work closely with our third-party accounting firm by reviewing deliverables, managing day-to-day accounting tasks, and ensuring timely monthly closes
• Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable processes, including vendor payments, invoicing, collections, and expense tracking
• Review internal financial statements and ensure GAAP compliance
• Lay the foundation for audit readiness and help evaluate external auditors and tax advisors
• Maintain and optimize financial systems including QuickBooks and Ramp, and help plan for an ERP transition

What you'll do

This is an on-site role based in either our NYC or San Francisco office. It is designed for builders who thrive on speed, iteration, and meaningful impact.

For this role, the expected base salary range is $230,000 to $270,000. Profound's total compensation package is designed to be competitive and includes base salary, equity, and a full range of benefits and perks. Final compensation will depend on factors such as your skills, experience, qualifications, and location, and will be determined during the interview process.
