Job summary

gpac is partnering with a Washington, DC firm seeking an experienced Director of Accounting to lead the financial operations and reporting functions.

The role requires a Bachelor's in Accounting/Finance and at least 5 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in a law firm or professional services environment; responsibilities include general ledger, payroll, trust accounting, monthly closes, audits, and financial analyses.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in a law firm or professional services environment.
• Experience overseeing general ledger, payroll, accounts payable/receivable, trust accounting, and monthly close processes.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the Firm's day-to-day accounting operations including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, trust accounting, and monthly close.
• Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and management reports.
• Monitor cash flow, banking relationships, and treasury functions to ensure financial stability and operational effectiveness.
• Coordinate annual audits, tax filings, and other financial compliance activities.
• Administer payroll processes and coordinate retirement plan contributions and compliance requirements.
