Job summary

Legacy Search Advisors in Baltimore is seeking an experienced accounting leader to own a critical piece of its corporate accounting function. The role offers hybrid work after onboarding, reporting to the Assistant Controller and collaborating with senior leaders to shape accounting practices.

You will lead five accounting managers across a multi-entity environment, influencing processes, controls and system enhancements to support growth and change.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of progressive accounting experience.
• 5+ years leading accounting professionals.
• Experience in a complex, multi-entity environment.
• Strong general accounting and financial close experience.
• Fixed asset, depreciation, capital project and/or construction-in-progress exposure.
• Experience leading managers or multiple accounting teams.
• Strong cross-functional communication and executive presence.
• CPA and/or public accounting experience preferred.
• Real estate, healthcare, hospitality or similarly complex operating-company experience helpful.

$145,000–$160,000 Base + Up to 15% Bonus

This is not a "keep the trains running" Director of Accounting opportunity.

We're partnering with a large, highly respected and growing organization that is looking for an experienced accounting leader to take ownership of a critical piece of its corporate accounting function.

The opportunity is particularly compelling for someone who has reached the point in their career where they want to lead through other leaders, have visibility across the business, and play a meaningful role in how a sophisticated accounting organization operates and evolves.

You'll oversee a multi-entity accounting environment with five managers reporting into you, giving you leadership responsibility well beyond managing an individual team. You'll also work extensively across the organization and serve as a key representative of the Controller's organization with other departments and senior leaders.

The scope includes general accounting, close, reconciliations, fixed assets, intercompany activity, audit support and accounting transformation—but what makes the position interesting is the opportunity to improve processes, influence how accounting operates across the enterprise, and help lead the function through continued growth and change.

Who We're Looking For

The ideal candidate is an experienced accounting leader who has operated in a complex, multi-entity environment and knows how to lead both people and process.

Experience overseeing managers is particularly important. This person should be comfortable setting expectations, developing leaders beneath them, driving accountability and representing accounting across the broader organization.
