Job summary

The University of Virginia School of Data Science seeks a Director of Academic Operations and Student Support in Charlottesville, VA. This leadership role oversees registrar, advising, and program management across undergraduate, graduate, and PhD programs to ensure a high-quality student experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required.
• 5+ years of related work experience.
• 2+ years of formal managerial experience.
• Experience with student populations across undergraduate, graduate, and professional programs.

Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise academic operations team across programs and modalities.
• Oversee day-to-day academic operations for efficiency and quality.
• Manage curriculum flow and course alignment with university timelines.
• Partner with faculty and school leadership on priorities.
• Oversee registrar functions, academic records, policies, and compliance.
• Act as data steward; analyze enrollment, course demand, retention, and student success.
• Support accreditation, assessment, and program review processes.
• Develop and document academic policies, procedures, and standards.
• Coordinate with Admissions, Career Services, and faculty leadership on communications.
• Liaise with UVA central offices to align academic and administrative functions.
• Advance student success outcomes including retention, persistence, and graduation.
• Coordinate budgets and allocate resources.
