Summary of Job Duties

The OTA program director is responsible for the management and administration of the program, including planning, evaluation, budgeting, selection of faculty and staff, maintenance of accreditation, and commitment to strategies for professional development.

  • Plan, pilot, and evaluate a competency-based Occupational Therapy Assistant program.
  • Develop and implement instructional plans for each course, using appropriate course objectives.
  • Enforce academic policy and procedures and comply with institutional rules and regulations related to classroom instruction.
  • Maintain availability for students out of class.
  • Serve as the OTA program advisor and lead faculty member.
  • Identify and secure Academic Fieldwork Coordinators.
  • Identify and acquire resources, including textbooks, library materials, laboratory supplies, and instructional equipment.
  • Lead program external accreditation planning.
  • Lead work in developing a systematic plan for evaluation (SPE), which demonstrates that students have achieved, or are approaching, competency in student learning outcomes.
  • Participate in College in-service training and other opportunities for continued professional development.
  • Work collaboratively with the Dean of Allied Health and the Title III Program Director.

Qualifications

Qualifications

Must be an initially certified occupational therapist who is licensed or otherwise regulated according to regulations in Arkansas.

At least a master's degree in occupational therapy awarded by an institution that is accredited by a USDE-recognized institutional accrediting agency.

Minimum of 5 years of documented experience in the field of occupational therapy including

  • Clinical practice as an occupational therapist or occupational therapy assistant.
  • Administrative experience including, but not limited to, program planning and implementation, personnel management, evaluation, and budgeting.
  • Scholarship (e.g., scholarship of application, scholarship of teaching and learning).
  • Understanding of and experience with occupational therapy assistants.

At least 2 years teaching experience, preferably in a community college setting.

Experience Working With Diverse, At-risk Students Preferred.

Ability to work as member of a team.

Excellent written & oral communication skills.
