Job summary

The American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN) seeks a Director of Nursing to provide strategic vision and operational leadership for ASN and BSN programs. You will lead program development, compliance, accreditation, budgeting, and community partnerships to advance student success.

Reporting to the Dean of Health Sciences, the director will drive curriculum oversight, faculty development, and expansion aligned with workforce needs while ensuring Florida regulatory and ACEN accreditation

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Nursing, Nursing Education, or closely related area required.
  • Doctoral degree strongly preferred.
  • Current Florida RN or APRN license, or eligibility to obtain one, required.
  • Supervisory experience in nursing education at a higher education institution.
  • College-level nursing teaching experience.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to relate to students, faculty, and area health care providers.
  • Capacity for professional growth and development.
  • Health program accreditation experience strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the organization, administration, review, development, and effectiveness of the ASN and BSN programs.
  • Lead strategic planning and expansion of nursing programs to meet regional workforce demands.
  • Evaluate program goals, objectives, and educational outcomes.
  • Ensure compliance with Florida State Board of Nursing and Florida Department of Education rules and regulations.
  • Identify and pursue grants or external funding for program innovation and student scholarships.
  • Ensure compliance with ACEN standards and lead faculty efforts to maintain accreditation.
  • Participate in curriculum development.
  • Prepare and manage the program budget and maintain needed supplies and equipment.
  • Prepare internal and external documentation and administrative reports.
  • Coordinate and update agreements with area health care facilities for ASN clinical learning sites.
  • Track student clinical compliance, including immunizations and CPR, in required systems.
  • Recommend and take appropriate action regarding nursing faculty/staff appointments, assignments, supervision, evaluation, and professional development.
  • Develop strategies for faculty retention and mentorship.
  • Coordinate theory and clinical instruction within the program and with other College programs and departments.
  • Supervise and assist with admissions, recruitment, advising, and enrollment of ASN and BSN students.
  • Serve as liaison with local nursing professionals and the community regarding Nursing programs.
  • Lead Nursing Advisory Council meetings, prepare reports, and maintain program currency and relevance.
  • Serve on College work groups and support College initiatives.
  • Participate in commencement ceremonies.
  • Complete mandatory compliance training.
  • Perform other duties as required.
