Job summary

The State of Georgia seeks a Director of Nursing to oversee ASN Bridge programs across Jasper, Butts, Spalding, and Fayette campuses. You will manage instructional and administrative duties, with release time for leadership tasks and collaboration with the AVP for Nursing.

Qualifications include a nursing master’s degree, RN licensure, and several years in higher education leadership; experience with accreditation is valued.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Balance teaching and administrative responsibilities.
  • Evaluate performance of full- and part-time faculty and staff.
  • Coordinate program supplies and budget with AVP of Nursing.
  • Prepare documentation for accreditation and state licensing.
  • Represent the department at internal and external meetings.
  • Develop educational plans for all campus locations.
  • Address student, faculty, staff, and customer needs.
  • Lead committees and special projects as assigned.
  • Ensure policies meet college goals and requirements.

Job Description:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

We are seeking a qualified candidate with the following minimum qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Nursing from a nationally or regionally accredited institution college or university. The appropriate degree should meet the requirements of college accrediting agencies.
  • Hold appropriate, unencumbered licensure as a Registered Professional Nurse.
  • At least three to five years’ experience working in an academic unit in higher education within the past seven years.
  • Experience in a supervisory role in education and industry.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: (In addition to the minimum qualifications)

The ideal candidate will possess the following preferred qualifications:

  • Three to five years’ post-secondary and/or higher education teaching experience.
  • Experience in curriculum development, instructional methodology, planning, evaluation, budgeting, supervision, and management.
  • Experience in SACSCOC, ACEN, and GBON accreditation.
  • Experience as a program coordinator, director, dean, or department chair.
  • Familiarity with Technical College System of Georgia policies, procedures, and processes.
  • DNP, Ph.D, Ed.D, or Master’s degree in Nursing Education or related field.
RESPONSIBILITIES:

As the Director for ASN Bridge programs, you will oversee all aspects of the academic unit of Nursing Bridge programs at SCTC’s Jasper; Butts, Spalding, and Fayette campuses. This position includes both instructional and administrative responsibilities. The individual will receive release time from instructional duties to perform assigned administrative responsibilities.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Planning and organizing the unit’s work to meet the technical college’s objectives.
  • Responsible for fulfilling both teaching and non‑teaching activities.
  • Assist in evaluating the performance of all full‑and part‑time faculty and staff within the nursing unit.
  • Coordinate the development of the program’s supplies and equipment list and submit to the Assistant Vice President of Nursing (AVP) for review and approval.
  • Prepares and maintains all required documentation and administrative reports related to accreditation and state licensing management.
  • Assist the AVP in preparing instructional program specifications and developing the program budget.
  • Representing the department at various internal and external meetings.
  • Developing and implementing an educational plan for all campus locations to ensure adequate staff, space, and materials.
  • Addressing and resolving complaints and needs of students, faculty, staff, and outside customers.
  • Serving as a liaison to departments of the technical college.
  • Promoting the programs to public and private organizations to support expanded services and facilities.
  • Attending campus program advisory meetings.
  • Providing leadership for committees, special projects, and initiatives as assigned.
  • Developing and/or assisting with the development of policies and procedures and recommending changes to meet the goals and requirements of the College.
  • Conducting regular evaluations of services provided and adjusting as needed.
  • Must be willing to work flexible hours and work well in the classroom and clinical settings as needed.
  • Completing other duties as assigned.
  • Reporting directly to the Assistant Vice President for Nursing.

  • Proficiency in the operation of computers and job‑related software programs.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Skill to work cooperatively with students, faculty and staff;
  • Skill in the preparation and delivery of classroom content;
  • Knowledge of academic course standards;
