Director, New Product Development (NPD) PMO
Position Summary
We are seeking a Director of New Product Development (NPD) PMO to lead the successful industrialization and launch of complex products across a global manufacturing network. This role serves as the critical bridge between Engineering, Product Development, Supply Chain, and Manufacturing Operations, ensuring seamless transition from product concept through production launch.
The ideal candidate combines strong manufacturing engineering leadership with deep expertise in new product introduction (NPI), product industrialization, design-for-excellence (DfX), and manufacturing readiness. This is a highly cross-functional leadership role responsible for ensuring products are successfully launched, scaled, and supported across multiple manufacturing sites.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead New Product Introduction (NPI) and product industrialization programs from development through production launch.
- Drive manufacturing readiness activities including process validation, capacity planning, tooling readiness, and production ramp-up.
- Partner with Engineering teams to implement Design for Excellence (DfX) methodologies, including Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA).
- Establish and manage launch readiness criteria, stage-gate reviews, and executive program reporting.
- Ensure successful transfer of products from development organizations into manufacturing operations.
- Coordinate cross-functional activities across Engineering, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Quality, and Operations.
- Lead global product launch execution across multiple manufacturing locations.
- Drive continuous improvements in NPI processes, industrialization methodologies, and launch effectiveness.
- Identify, assess, and mitigate program risks while maintaining schedule, quality, and cost objectives.
- Build and develop a high-performing team focused on execution excellence and operational readiness.
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline.
- 10+ years of manufacturing, engineering, operations, or product development leadership experience.
- Proven success leading new product introduction (NPI) programs and product industrialization efforts.
- Experience driving manufacturing readiness and production ramp-up activities.
- Strong understanding of DfX principles, including DFM and DFA.
- Experience leading cross-functional teams in a complex manufacturing environment.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple concurrent programs and stakeholder groups.
Preferred
- Advanced degree in Engineering, Operations, or Business.
- Experience supporting highly engineered or precision manufacturing products.
- Experience managing global product launches and multi-site manufacturing environments.
- Background in manufacturing engineering, operations engineering, or product industrialization leadership.
