This job is posted as onsite and required to work from our Dearborn, MI, offices.

Role Overview

The Director of Network Engineering will develop, manage, and support networking products across DDI and WAN. This hands-on role involves working with multi-vendor technology stacks, software-as-a-service, and various networking tools including third party solutions as well as internal Ford applications. You will lead a team of engineers and drive the tactical and operational aspects of DDI and Wide Area Networking while collaborating across adjacent network groups in the Enterprise Technology space.

Responsibilities
  1. Networking Architecture: Design, implement, and maintain high availability and high-performance DDI and WAN infrastructure.
  2. Large Scale Enterprise Migrations: Lead migration efforts to Palo Alto Prisma cloud and TCPWave.
  3. Team Leadership: Manage and foster a high-performing Network Infrastructure team.
  4. Security: Implement robust network security policies and collaborate with security teams.
  5. Capacity Planning: Monitor and plan for future network capacity needs.
  6. Onboarding/Ingestion: Standardize onboarding processes for new network programs.
  7. Documentation: Develop comprehensive documentation for all network programs.
  8. Network Automation: Automate deployment and management using IaC tools like Ansible, Terraform.
  9. Performance Optimization: Analyze and optimize network performance.
  10. High Availability & Disaster Recovery: Architect fault-tolerant solutions.
  11. Troubleshooting: Lead incident response and troubleshooting efforts.
  12. Compliance & Security: Ensure adherence to industry standards and compliance.
  13. Innovation: Stay updated on emerging network technologies.
Qualifications
  • Deep understanding of WAN technologies including MPLS, SD-WAN, VPNs.
  • Experience with Palo Alto Prisma Access platform migration.
  • Expertise in WAN routing protocols like BGP, OSPF, MPLS.
  • Knowledge of DNS, DHCP, IPAM, and DDI tools including QIP and TCPWave.
  • Experience in enterprise network migration to TCPWave or similar tools.
  • Understanding of network virtualization and data center technologies.
  • Strong knowledge of Layer 2/3 switching, VLANs, STP, routing protocols.
  • Experience with cloud networking technologies is a plus.
  • Knowledge of security standards and compliance (PCI DSS, HIPAA).
  • Expertise in automation, infrastructure as code.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and project management skills.
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field.
  • Network certifications like CCNP or equivalent; Prisma Certified Cloud Security Engineer (PCCE) a plus.
  • 10+ years of experience, with 7+ years leading large teams.
  • Experience designing and managing large enterprise networks.
