Job summary

Valley Children’s Healthcare in California's Central Valley seeks an experienced NICU Operations Executive to lead Clinical Operations in a 1:1/2:1 NICU environment. You will align departmental goals with the hospital's mission and drive quality care, patient and family satisfaction, and regulatory compliance.

Responsibilities include staff development, credentialing maintenance, and cross‑functional collaboration with nursing, physicians, and support services to sustain a high‑performing NICU.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s in nursing as required.
  • Masters in nursing or related field required.
  • RN license in California (BRN) required.
  • Minimum five years of management experience.
  • Minimum three years of clinical nursing in a NICU-level facility.
  • Strong leadership, planning and communication skills.

About Us:

The Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at Valley Children’s Hospital is Central California’s only Regional Level IV NICU - the highest level of medical care available for premature and critically ill newborns. With a focus on family-centered care, our patients have access to a full range of pediatric and surgical specialists that treat potentially life-threatening illnesses due to extreme prematurity, congenital defects, injury, chronic illnesses and more. Our NICU patient ratios are 1:1 or 2:1 in the ICU and 1:3 in Intermediate Care. Collectively, our NICUs provide specialized care for more than 1,400 fragile babies and nearly 25,000 patient days a year. Our team supports a network of NICUs throughout Central California, providing services for Madera County, Merced County, Fresno County, Kings County and Tulare County.

Our level II and level III satellite NICUs (Fresno, Merced & Hanford) are staffed with Valley Children’s team of experts to provide patients the opportunity to receive treatment closer to home. The nurses in these satellite units are trained to attend high-risk deliveries and resuscitate babies in the delivery room if needed. Our NICU is ranked as one of the best children’s hospitals in Neonatology by U.S. News & World Report for 2023-2024 - the seventh such ranking for our NICU. Our expert team consists of more than 250 neonatal nurses, constantly striving to innovate and improve patient care so babies have the best outcomes.

Job Summary:

Reporting to the Vice President, Patient Care Services and CNO, the incumbent ensures optimal quality patient care provided by the NICU. Develops and implements short term and long term planning relative to the Clinical Operations functions, staff, and physical space. Aligns the goals of the various departments with the strategic direction of the Hospital. Ensures high levels of patient, family, and employee satisfaction. Manages staff development and the maintenance of staff competencies. Accountable for maintaining compliance with regulatory and legal standards. The incumbent is required to work closely and in collaboration with many different constituencies, both internally and externally. Understands, supports, and promotes the Hospital's mission, vision and core values. The position maintains the professional practice standards, customer relations, compliance with accreditation/licensure requirements, personnel and practice in the department.

Qualifications:
Education
  • College Degree - 4 year Nursing or related field (required)
  • Masters Degree Nursing or related field (required)
  • Either Bachelor's or Master's MUST be in nursing (required)
Licenses and Certifications
  • RN - Registered Nurse License - CA-BRN - California Board of Registered Nursing California Licensed (required)
Work Experience
  • Minimum five (5) years Management experience (required)
  • Minimum three (3) years Clinical nursing experience, at least one of which shall have been in a facility with a NICU that is equivalent to a Regional or Community NICU (required)
