Job summary

UC San Diego seeks a neurologist to serve as Director of the Parkinson and Other Movement Disorders Center (POMDC). The role combines clinical leadership, research, and teaching across our La Jolla and Hillcrest campuses.

The ideal candidate will provide outpatient care, mentor faculty, and teach students, residents and fellows while advancing departmental research and philanthropic initiatives. Appointment at Associate or Full Professor level is expected.

Qualifications

• MD or MD/PhD in health-related field.
• Board certification in Neurology or eligibility.
• At least six years in clinical care and teaching.
• Five+ years of funded research in Parkinson's/Movement Disorders.
• California medical license or eligibility per Medical Board of CA.

Responsibilities

• Lead the interdisciplinary Movement Disorders group as Professor and Director.
• Provide outpatient care to movement disorder patients and mentor junior faculty.
• Teach graduate students, residents, clinical and research fellows, and staff.
• Collaborate across UCSD hospitals/clinics in La Jolla and Hillcrest locations; engage with translational programs.
• Lead deployment of the program's philanthropic endowment and donor stewardship program.
• Maintain and advance POMDC designations (Parkinson's Center of Excellence, Lewy Body Dementia Association, Cure PSP Center).

Education

MD or MD/PhD

Neurology board certified/eligible

Clinical care & teaching: 6+ years

Funded research in Parkinson's: 5+ years
