Job summary

HarbisonWalker International (HWI) invites applications for a Director, Monolithic Technology and Specialty Products. This senior role leads a department of researchers, engineers, and technicians, coordinating with Research, Technical Marketing, Product Management, Sales, Procurement, Quality and Manufacturing to advance new offerings and support the current portfolio in the key technology family.

The role emphasizes strategic thinking, technical leadership, and cross-functional collaboration

Qualifications

• Requires a B.S. in Engineering, Ceramics, Metallurgy, Chemical, Materials Science or related field.
• MBA preferred.
• Knowledge of scientific method, refractory raw materials, product development, manufacturing processes and customer applications.
• Strong strategic thinking and technical problem-solving skills.
• Excellent oral and written communication for technical topics with external parties.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite with advanced Excel and PowerPoint.

Responsibilities

• Develop new and improved offerings in collaboration with product management, technology marketing, quality, manufacturing, procurement and commercial sales teams.
• Provide technology support and expertise for existing materials and HWI product offerings.
• Maintain detailed material roadmaps and updated raw material specifications; manage a materials library.
• Lead technology teams in internal and external fundamental research to advance materials knowledge.
• Supervise, coach, and develop direct reports with safety as a priority.
• Understand competitive offerings and external developments relevant to HWI's materials technology.
