Job summary

Mackinnon Bruce International is seeking an experienced Director of Metallurgical Development to lead metallurgical improvement and process development across mining operations. The role focuses on enhancing plant performance, developing processing solutions, supporting expansions, and evaluating new technologies.

You will lead metallurgical projects, manage internal and external teams, and present recommendations to senior management.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Metallurgy, Mineral Processing, Chemical Engineering, Mining Engineering or related discipline.
• 10+ years' experience in mineral processing or metallurgy.
• At least 5 years of mine-site experience.
• Experience leading metallurgical improvement or development projects.
• Strong project management and stakeholder management skills.
• Willingness to travel 60–90 days per year.

Responsibilities

• Lead metallurgical development and improvement projects across mining operations.
• Identify opportunities to improve recovery, throughput, costs and plant performance.
• Lead ore characterisation and metallurgical test work.
• Develop and optimise process flowsheets for plant expansions and projects.
• Support equipment selection and process design.
• Evaluate and implement new processing technologies.
• Work with engineering consultants, vendors, laboratories and site teams.
• Provide technical support to operations and help resolve complex processing issues.
• Manage internal and external project teams, budgets and schedules.
• Present technical recommendations and project updates to senior management.
• Coach and mentor metallurgical and technical personnel.
• Support SEC ore reserve reporting as a Qualified Person (QP) where required.
