Position: Director – MEP Systems

Department: Engineering & Sustainability

Reporting Relationship: Sr. Director – Engineering & Sustainability

Work Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:30 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. and stadium events which may include nights, weekends, or holidays

Status: Full-Time (Non-exempt)

Position Summary

The Director of MEP Systems reports to the Sr. Director of Engineering & Sustainability and is responsible for the safe, efficient, and reliable physical plant operation and maintenance of Bank of America Stadium and Carolina Panthers practice facilities. Specific areas of responsibility include MEP/FP systems, building management system (BAS), and Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS). This position plays a critical role in the development and execution of stadium-wide standard operating procedures as well as compliance with health and safety standards.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Provide the highest level of customer service to the Carolina Panthers, Charlotte Football Club, touring artists, partnership clients, and all guests.
  • Direct and support a high-performing in-house Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing maintenance team.
  • Provide leadership to departmental teams operating 24/7.
  • Lead scheduling and deployment of maintenance staff for physical plant operations.
  • Maintain the budget and manage outside contractors.
  • Ensure open communication between engineering, operations, project development, and guest services.
  • Recruit and mentor MEP team members.
  • Implement standard operating procedures for venue success and mechanical equipment well-being.
  • Participate in special projects and other duties as requested.
  • Oversee stadium cleaning vendors and ensure quality control.
  • Prepare the Stadium for events through inspections and management tasks.
  • Self-direct workload to achieve business goals.
  • Be an active participant in major stadium and special events.
  • Conduct site surveys and visual inspections for maintenance and capital projects.
  • Assist with project cost planning and budget adherence.
  • Complete weekly payroll for staff and review invoices from third-party partners.
  • Facilitate training and career development for team members.
  • Coordinate with peers for infrastructure repairs and maintenance.
  • Facilitate annual inspections as required by authorities.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Minimum 7 years of experience in facilities/building operations and maintenance management for a sports/entertainment venue.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering OR 20 years of equivalent mission-critical facilities management experience.
  • Extensive knowledge of facility maintenance, refrigeration systems, and environmental systems.
  • Able to operate stadium machinery (training will be provided).
  • Recent experience in engineering and maintenance, including technical training in HVAC-R/Electrical/Plumbing.
  • Organized, resourceful, detail-oriented, and excellent time management skills.
  • Proven team leader with strong analysis skills and financial analysis comfort.
  • Available to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and on-call; able to work in variable temperatures and confined spaces.
  • Valid driver’s license; able to drive company vehicles; pass pre-employment screens.
  • Experience managing an operating budget.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and CMMS software.
  • Flexible to work evenings/weekends for events.
  • Detail-oriented and forward-thinking.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with a customer service focus.

Preferred Qualifications

  • NFL and/or MLS venue experience.
  • Experience with food and beverage operators and events.
  • Experience with 24/7 Software or similar IMS/CMMS solution.
