Day One Biopharmaceuticals is an emerging, mission-driven, drug development company intentionally designed to identify, clinically evaluate, and successfully commercialize novel treatments for pediatric oncology patients, and ultimately to expand those benefits to patients of all ages. POSITION SUMMARY:

The Director, Medical Strategy will be a key leader within the Medical Affairs team, responsible for driving the strategic development and execution of core Medical Affairs deliverables supporting the development and commercialization of OJEMDATM. This individual will lead core Medical Affairs initiatives and deliverables aligned with the overarching Medical Affairs strategy. This leader will also sit on the OJEMDATMbrand team, serving as a key liaison across functions to ensure alignment on core deliverables and contribute to brand planning. This position reports to the Vice President, Medical Affairs.

This position has the potential to be fully remote. Travel will be required (up to 20-30%) for medical conferences and in-person meetings.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Drive development of Medical Affairs Strategy for OJEMDATMin collaboration with VP, Medical Affairs.
  • Represent Medical Affairs on the OJEMDATMbrand team, provide leadership on cross-functional brand strategy deliverables, and bring the Medical Affairs perspective to commercial strategies and tactics.
  • Lead the development, implementation and maintenance of the scientific communication platform and aspirational narrative for OJEMDATM, and ensure strategic cross-functional alignment on data interpretation and external communication approach for evidence generation activities.
  • Oversee development of all externally facing scientific exchange materials, including Medical Information standard response letters (SRLs), frequently asked question documents (FAQs), and medical science liaison (MSL) materials, in alignment with core scientific messaging.
  • Develop and execute cross-functional KOL engagement plans and insights gathering to inform brand and evidence strategies.
  • Lead advisory board strategy, content development, and serve as a presenter to gather critical insights and inform strategy.
  • Synthesize and report insights from field teams, advisory boards, and congresses to inform strategy.
  • Oversee congress strategy, including planning, content development, and representation at key scientific meetings.
  • Oversee training of MSLs on all scientific exchange materials.
  • Address escalation of Medical Legal Regulatory review
  • Manage, mentor, and develop Medical Affairs team members, fostering a culture of high performance and collaboration.
  • Ensure all activities comply with regulatory, legal, and ethical standards.
  • Stay abreast of emerging trends in oncology, competitive intelligence, and evolving stakeholder needs.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Advanced degree (PharmD, PhD, MD) in a scientific or medical discipline required.
  • Minimum of 10+ years of Medical Affairs or related experience within the biopharmaceutical industry, with at least 5 years in oncology.
  • Demonstrated leadership in Medical Affairs strategy, including launch experience in oncology (strongly preferred).
  • Proven track record in scientific communications, evidence generation strategy, and KOL engagement.
  • Proven ability to manage and develop high-performing teams.
  • Deep understanding of the US healthcare system, oncology landscape, and regulatory environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate and lead cross-functionally, building strong partnerships across Commercial, Clinical, Regulatory, and other key functions.
  • Exceptional communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong understanding of medical content development, congress planning, and advisory board execution.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

The salary range for this position is $230,000 - $250,000. Day One considers a range of factors when determining base compensation. These considerations mean actual compensation will vary.
