Job description

Our Medical Affairs team advances patient care by engaging in scientific exchange with external medical experts and industry leaders, ensuring the scientific value of our products is understood. We connect, communicate, and train internal employees to ensure a thorough understanding of the science behind the medicine and review unmet medical needs to support collaboration and differentiate our portfolio.

Role Overview:

The Cluster Medical Director is the Medical Leader for the cluster comprising Indonesia, Philippines, and Thailand. They will be the primary cluster-level contact for medical affairs and are responsible for:

  1. Oversight of the development and execution of the Medical Affairs (MA) strategy for the cluster, based on understanding of global, regional, and cluster opportunities and requirements;
  2. Creating and maintaining a high-performing, compliant MA organization for the cluster;
  3. Representing cluster needs at regional and/or global levels; representing medical affairs in the Cluster Leadership Team; engaging in external activities requiring the presence of the senior medical leader;
  4. Coordinating with the GCTO, Pharmacovigilance, RA, OR, BARDS staff to ensure effective interactions with external stakeholders;
  5. Managing the portfolio, allocating resources to balance global and local priorities, developing capabilities, and fostering an innovative, compliant work environment;
  6. Handling medical aspects of submissions for reimbursement or tenders for medicines and vaccines, in collaboration with relevant departments.

Additionally, the Cluster Medical Director will support the evolution of GMSA as a leading research-based MA organization, helping to develop and implement strategic improvements.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Developing and supporting the global MA strategy and medical support for company objectives;
  • Planning and supporting CME activities and interactions with authorities and organizations;
  • Building relationships with regulatory and GCTO departments;
  • Consulting on medical and scientific matters for business units;
  • Providing input on study feasibility, publication policies, and medical advice;
  • Managing study protocols, approvals, and compliance activities;
  • Representing the company externally through industry boards and media;
  • Leading regional medical governance and cross-functional collaboration.
Qualifications:
  • M.D. or equivalent from a recognized medical school; additional degrees and licensing are a plus;
  • At least 5 years in the biopharmaceutical industry in Clinical Development or Medical Affairs;
  • Minimum 3 years of management experience leading a large healthcare professional team;
  • Experience in Oncology, Infectious Diseases, Vaccines, or Specialty Care;
  • Leadership experience across geographies and cultures;
  • Strong understanding of compliance, business acumen, and scientific credibility;
  • Excellent communication and strategic thinking skills;
  • Experience managing global and regional teams in a matrix organization.
