Job summary

LSG, an impact agency specializing in public affairs, corporate reputation, and brand building, is seeking a Director of Media Relations to join our team in Washington, D.C. This hybrid role supports strategic communications for diverse clients, shaping public narratives in challenging environments.

The ideal candidate has deep Beltway media experience, a proven track record of earned coverage, and the ability to lead client strategy while mentoring junior staff and collaborating across teams.

Qualifications

  • At least 3-5 years of experience in communications, media relations, political strategy, or public affairs.
  • Prior media and/or communications experience inside the Beltway, such as on Capitol Hill, at the White House, or with other relevant entities in Washington.
  • Prior experience working at a public affairs/communications firm or agency setting.
  • Proven track record securing coverage with leading outlets and building relationships with journalists.
  • Demonstrated ability to execute proactive earned media strategies in politically charged, fast-moving environments, with sound judgment and exposure to crisis communications.
  • Excellent writing and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft sharp, persuasive messaging.
  • Experience contributing to account teams and campaign execution, with familiarity in advocacy, public affairs, or policy campaigns.
  • Proven project management skills and the ability to juggle multiple client accounts and competing deadlines simultaneously.

Job description

LSG, an impact agency specializing in public affairs, corporate reputation, and brand building, is seeking a Director of Media Relations to join our team in Washington, D.C. This role will support strategic communications efforts across our growing client portfolio, helping clients - particulary those in highly regarded sectors - shape public narratives, navigate complex media environments, and achieve measurable reputational impact.

We're looking for a highly responsive communicator with strong experience pitching reporters and news outlets, growing relationships across the media and political ecosystems, and a sharp understanding of today's media and political dynamics. This is a highly visibiliity opportunity to shape narratives on consequential issues and grow as a leader in the public affairs communications space. Ideal candidates have media and/or communications experience inside the Beltway - on Capitol Hill, at the White House,e or with other relevant entities in Was
hington - in roles such as press secretary, deputy communications director, or press staff.

This is a hybrid role based in our downtown DC office Monday-Thursday, with remote work available on Fridays. The position requires periodic travel to support client engagements and events.

Responsibilities
Media Strategy & Execution
