Job description

Overview

POSITION SUMMARY STATEMENT:

The Director of Operations – Winston-Salem will oversee operations at our HIM Virginia facility, manage warehouse operations at the HIM Winston-Salem facility, and lead key operational initiatives impacting HIMVA and/or HIMWS. This role will develop short- and long-term plans for these areas, demonstrate leadership in staffing improvements and operational strategies, and establish performance metrics (Safety, Quality, Service, Reliability, Agility, and Cost) to ensure targets are met and continuous improvement is achieved. The Director will collaborate with other departments to review processes, operations, and production quality, fostering a culture of collaboration and inclusivity. The position reports to the VP of Manufacturing.

DETAILED RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES:

• Lead warehouse operations and HIMVA manufacturing to meet or exceed expectations for quality, productivity, and customer service. Develop and implement strategies supporting current and future growth at all levels.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Skills:

  • Strong organizational and motivational leadership skills, coupled with technical and analytical abilities.
  • Problem-solving skills for both short- and long-term resolutions.
  • Robust manufacturing and operational knowledge, including understanding formulations, processes, and procedures.
  • Ability to educate others in manufacturing methodologies.
  • Excellent customer service orientation with results-driven focus and follow-through.
  • Effective team leadership and collaboration skills.
  • Adaptability to organizational changes and evolving functions.
  • Sound judgment with a technical and operational focus.
  • Ability to plan, organize, and manage across multiple shifts and departments.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 10 years of relevant manufacturing operations/management experience in the Dietary, Food, Nutritional, or Pharmaceutical industries.
  • At least 8 years of managerial experience supervising direct reports or workflow management.
  • Knowledge of materials, processes, and equipment affecting manufacturing environments.
  • Experience in developing, writing, and updating procedures.
  • Proven ability to establish manufacturing systems and organizational structures.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Operations, or a related field.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Advanced Engineering degree and/or MBA.
  • Experience establishing manufacturing systems and organizations.
  • Practical knowledge of Lean/Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Experience in Food, Dietary, Nutritional, or Pharmaceutical industries with knowledge of cGMP and regulatory standards.
